If you are one of our caregivers in Darby, Pennsylvania, or maybe you are simply caring or an elderly loved one at home, these tips are for you.
Being providers of homecare service in Pennsylvania, we get a glimpse of how challenging it is to care for senior loved ones, especially when it is time for a bath! Things may get a bit awkward, even if you are bathing your own relative.
Edmacy Home Care has a few tips to share in order to make this time of day a little less weird, for both of you. Take a look:
- Create a schedule. Figuring out the bathing schedule for the patient is important. Depending on your patient’s health condition, they may not need a bath as often. While most adults need a sponge bath daily, full baths are only done 2-3 times per week.
- Make casual conversation. Bathing won’t be the most pleasant experience for most seniors. So, try to strike up a light-hearted conversation to help them relax.
- Maintain their dignity. Being undressed and bathed by a stranger might make your patient feel a bit undignified. Help prevent this by having their towel ready as soon as they come out of the tub or shower. We make sure our caregivers in our home health agency in Pennsylvania follow this golden rule always.
Keep these three tips in mind, and you’ll be good to go. If you are currently looking after an elderly loved one and are in need of some assistance, call our home health agency so we can lend you a hand.
